Armour Transportation is looking for a Driver Trainer based out of our Dartmouth, NS location.
Reporting directly to the Safety Manager, this role plays a key part in evaluating, training, and developing one of our most valuable resources—our drivers.
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (with some non-standard assignments as required)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct skills evaluations for all new driver hires to ensure high standards of safety and performance.
- Coordinate, administer, and deliver assigned training programs, including TDG, LCV, Forklift, WHMIS, CPPI, and HOS certifications.
- Review applicants' safety records and suitability when required.
- Monitor compliance with Federal and Provincial transportation regulations, identifying issues and creating action plans for resolution.
- Investigate OTR (Over-the-Road) accidents, conduct root cause analyses, and assess skills gaps to recommend corrective actions.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications:
- Valid Class 1 License with air brakes.
- Proven expertise in professional driving evaluation, education, and promotion.
- In-depth knowledge of Federal and Provincial transportation regulations.
- Experience with the implementation and use of electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Key Skills:
- Strong time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- A talent for coaching and mentoring drivers to enhance performance.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is considered a strong asset.
