Armour Transportation Systems is looking for a Trip Assistant based out of our Moncton, NB location.
Position Overview: The Trip Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the smooth movement of equipment and freight by coordinating with business partners, terminals, and customers. This role requires strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication to support multimodal transit planning and compliance with safety measures. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Trip Assistant is responsible for managing operational tasks, tracking shipments, and ensuring drivers have the necessary information to complete their routes successfully.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with safety measures and operational procedures.
- Collaborate professionally with business partners, terminals, and customers to remove barriers in freight movement.
- Work closely with various departments to optimize equipment utilization, including asset and chassis management, while avoiding detention costs.
- Perform multimodal transit planning, considering all transportation modes (road, vessel, etc.).
- Provide solutions to optimize transit corridors for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, ensuring they have all necessary paperwork and information.
- Coordinate with steamship lines, Oceanex, CN, and CP to track shipments and address left-behind units.
- Handle billing, RV creation, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Identify and communicate operational improvement opportunities to relevant teams.
- Manage and prioritize transit duties based on business needs.
- Respond promptly to correspondence and voicemails within agreed timelines.
- Participate in pre-scheduled meetings, training sessions, and company events (e.g., transition meetings, daily reviews, and safety meetings).
- Plan and coordinate vacation coverage with drivers and provide supervisors with visibility updates.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Multimodal Operations Manager based on business requirements.

- Self-motivated with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously at a high level.
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
- Must be flexible to work shifts as required, covering operational gaps.
- Frequent interaction with customers and drivers via email, satellite, and phone.
Technical Skills:
- Dispatch experience and familiarity with the TruckMate system (an asset).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for reporting and documentation.
- Strong typing and computer skills.
