Armour Transportation Systems is looking for a Garage Manager based out of our Moncton, NB location.  

Position Overview: The Garage Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing the day-to-day repair and maintenance operations of our trailer fleet. Responsible for managing a team of skilled garage professionals, this role ensures the delivery of safe, timely, and high-quality service while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and team performance. The ideal candidate brings strong people management skills, a commitment to operational excellence, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-driven environment. This role is critical to maintaining the efficiency, safety, and compliance of our fleet operations, with a strong emphasis on leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (evening & weekend support as required)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Inspire: Manage and provide strong leadership to a team of professional garage maintenance personnel, ensuring smooth operations and a productive, safe working environment.
  • Safety First: Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety meetings to promote safe work practices, prevent injuries, and uphold occupational health & safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with HR: Work closely with Human Resources to implement policies that foster a safe, engaging, and compliant work environment for all team members.
  • Oversee Repairs: Supervise the repair and maintenance of trailers, ensuring quality workmanship and the proper use of parts for efficient, reliable service.
  • Daily Reporting: Provide regular updates to the operations team on the status of repairs and trailer in-service times.
  • Supplier Coordination: Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues and minimize downtime of trailers.
  • Schedule and Assign Work: Organize garage personnel schedules and assign workloads to maximize efficiency and meet business needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of repairs, rework, and warranty claims, ensuring high standards of workmanship from Technicians and Apprentices.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate vehicle records and repair data in the fleet management system to support maintenance operations.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • High volume of communication with customers, terminals, and agents via email and phone

 

Education & Experience:

  • Strong working knowledge of trailer maintenance operations, industry safety standards, and repair practices
  • 5+ years of industry-related experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team in a high-volume or service-driven environment
  • Completion of college/vocational school or technical training in a related field
  • Class A Mechanic’s License and Red Seal Certification are assets, but not essential
  • Valid driver’s license required

 

Technical Skills:

  • Experience and understanding of the TMT Maintenance System is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the ability to prepare reports in Word and Excel.
  • Strong typing and computer skills.
